Duralium, also called duralumin, duraluminum, duraluminium (in German), is an alloy based on aluminum (95%), copper (4%), magnesium (0.5%) and manganese (0.5%)

Before heat treatment, the alloy is ductile and malleable. After heat treatment, a reaction between the aluminum and magnesium causes an increase in hardness and tensile strength.

Its lightness as well as other physical properties mean that it has been widely used in the aerospace industry since the 1920s.

Its elastic resistance is about 300 Mpa, and its Young's modulus is 75 Gpa
